History:

China Chapel- Located at 316 Liberty Street, the church was established in 1865. It was made with Sam I. Smith as the minster. Rev. Sam Smith is currently the minster to this present day.

Mt. Sinai Baptist Church- Located at NWC FM 149 & Lawson, this church was established in 1897 in the Dupree School Building near it's present location. The church was established by Rev. P.A Northington and many others. The building was modified, and eventually replaced 85 years later.

Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church- Located at 505 North Liberty Road, this church was established in 1865 by Rev. C.L. McPherson Sr.  Services were held in a brush arbor until the church was built in 1897. A new church was erected in 1979 under the supervision of Rev. T.B. Reeves. The current pastor is Dr. N.E. Franklin.
