History:
Lake Creek Settlement was located to what is commonly referred to as Austin's 2nd Colony.
In 1861, the Lake Creek Settlement boundaries included the lands between the West Fork of the San Jancinto River. The town of Montgomery was in the middle of the Lake Creek Settlement.
There is evidence that the town of Montgomery was established in 1837, and used to be named the Town of Lake Creek Settlement.
